John has cast actors in such projects as The Wire, Wedding Crashers, Syriana, G.I. Jane, and Homicide, just to name a few. Monday September 13, 2010 - 7:00p – 9:00p (8 weeks - Adults) $300.
Principles of Acting
:  For Theater and TV / Film
Weeks 1-4 join award winning and nominated, veteran actor Kevin Jiggetts as we will explore, via scripted material, script analysis, characterization, truth of the moment, choices, the monologue, marketing yourself, agencies and much more. The participant will study scenes, memorize material, be paired with a partner (s), and present material before the class, incorporating what he/she has learned (study materials supplied).  Upon completion of the session, the actor will have a basic understanding of scripted material per a professional level.

On Camera Acting for Film and Television:
Weeks 5-7 join veteran and award winning director/actor Ken Arnold for this fun and informative workshop. Work on camera each session and have your worked constructively critiqued. Learn the subtleties of working in front of the camera as well as techniques to help you relax, have fun and be real. This session will discuss in detail what's expected at an audition, different types of auditions, and the actual auditioning process. Copy of work provided.

Week 8
Showcase Night. On the final night of this workshop, actors will present material (scenes) before family, friends and a REPRESENTATIVE from a union franchised CASTING HOUSE (space is limited). This rep will not only offer feedback in writing, but will request or decline interest based on their current and future casting needs. 
 
 

Private Coaching Available (1hr $50.)  Available on a  first come, first serve scheduling basis. We assist actor's with monologues and sides.

In addition to the above, our workshops will feature a special guest speaker(s). These special guests are actors, directors, casting persons, and producers, with solid bodies of work who will share some of their experiences as well as offer supportive critique.

If you feel you have what it takes to become a working actor then you have to attend. This is a one day (2 Hour), honest and bare bones, look at the business of acting. This in depth discussion will cover such topics as: What do I need to get started? What kind of headshot and resume should I have? Where do I get training? What scams should I look out for? How do I find an agent? Where should I network? What if I need legal advice? What are the acting unions and what is their purpose? Plus much more.
